THE END OF A ROAD
29 December 2004 ...
|
|
I can't believe that 2004 is over
in two days. So much has happened this
past year and the time has just flown right on past
me. It seems like only yesterday that I was playing
board games and hanging out with friends on NYE last
year or going to a dance the night before Valentine's
Day. Then there was the anticipation of another birthday
and the excitement of getting to see Phantom of the
Opera. The cheering on of team USA during the Olympics
to getting to meet Michael Phelps at Swim with the
Stars. Then the giddiness of going back to Indiana
and visiting friends and loved ones there. The being
sick on Thanksgiving the aching feet at weddings,
and the joy of Christmas morning and now back to New
Years again.
Because it is the end of the year
I thought it would be fun to make a list of the top
five things in different categories for this past
year. Not everyone was new in 2004, but had an impact
on me or was a favorite in 2004. And they are not
in any specific order.

Here's to a wonderful new year that is more amazing
then this past one! |
USELESS KNOWLEDGE
28 December 2004 ...
|
|
It is amazing how what kinds of information
you pick over the years and how most of it is totally
useless. I mean how often are you going to need to
know the name of the mayor of Washington DC that was
arrested for smoking crack? or the original name of
the rapper Big Baby Jesus? Well if at no other time
in your life then you can use it while playing Trivial
Pursuit! Last night we played the 90s edition
and had a blast. You'd be amazed at the weird stuff
my friends know about! And the odd things we don't
know! (Like the fact that there is a beheaded
statue of Lenin in the Mandalay Bay casino!)
For pics from the game & our
trip to Leatherby's go here.
HAPPY
BIRTHDAY C.J.!

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS ...
27 December 2004 ...
|
|
I love Christmas morning because
it is the one time each year that you can totally
be a kid again for a few hours. And that I did! Over
the years the presents have been traded from Barbie
Dreamhouses to New Clothes to CDs & DVDs and now
a brand new Canon
Digital Rebel EOS. I was not expecting a new camera
at all and so I was very excited! I have been wanting
it for so long! It was a nice surprise. I also got
a few other things I had been wanting - Clickable
Sharpies, Fuzzy Lime Green Socks, a Tool kit, and
an electric toothbrush. For pics from the morning
go here.
Thursday night was Christmas Adam
and we had a delicious dinner and played a rousing
white elephant gift exchange. Then afterwards we hung
around for awhile in the lounge and the institute.
(more
pics) Afterwards I went with some friends to watch
the Mothman Prophecies. Freaky movie! Scared the crap
out of me. I could have gone my whole life without
seeing that movie. And Chewy! I don't appreciate your
practical joke afterwards! ;o)
Christmas Eve took us to our annual
Cannon Family Breakfast in American Fork. Afterwards
I drove back up to Salt Lake and met Ben, Phil, &
Kyle to go see The Phantom of the Opera.
What a fabulous film! It was so great! If you have
any interest in musicals you should definitely
go and see it. I want to go again. Then that night
we had dinner and things at Betsy & Abe's with
them and the kids. Every year the kids get new pjs
and model them for us. They were hilarious. Plus my
shoes were a big hit. Pics!
And then yesterday after church we
had a mingle.
(I wanted to use my new camera)

for! May you enjoy the holiday with your loved ones
and be sure to remember the real reason to
celebrate.
To those of you that are traveling,
please be safe.

Just a reminder:
CHRISTMAS ADAM! It's Coming!

LIKE A BOWL FULL OF JELLY!
21 December 2004 ...

I don't think I have ever
laughed as hard as I did last night! I seriously thought
I was going to split open from laughing last night
at Dee's. One of the greatest joys of friendship is
the times when you can just let your hair loose (especially
after going to your gay stylist) and goof off. My
friends are the greatest at this, and last night was
proof of that.
For Family Home Evening and went
downtown to Temple Square to see the lights. How beautiful!
The area by the conference center is decorated especially
for me and Sarah Jane - all in pink & orange!
It was so cold, that the group decided to head to
Dee's for Hot Chocolate afterwards. We had such a
large group we took up three tables! Kyle had brought
his camera and was determined to have some good video
clips from the night. I was just as determined to
get a picture of him smiling (go here
to see) and he wasn't being very cooperative. Next
thing you know, Will was having a make out with "the
cup" and Brenda was practicing her long shot
with sugar and swooshed right into the carafe! Then
we had a french lesson (with hacking of lungs and
everything!) and Brenda wore her whip cream mustache!
It was fabulous!
I feel so blessed to be surrounded
by such great people in my life! I have wonderful
friends who make life a joyous experience ... they
share laughter, offer shoulders to lean on, and great
memories for the years to come!

FULL WEEKEND
20 December 2004 ...
|
|
First off, I must apologize for not
updating the 12 days of Christmas like I should have
the past few days. It has just been so crazy. But
it is all caught up now, and I hope to be better about
that.
This past weekend was full of all
kinds of activities from Heidi & Matt's wedding
to an Eclipse concert, & the Mormon Tabernacle
Choir christmas concert. We shall start with Heidi
& Matt's wedding. It was a nice ceremony,
the weather was good, my shoes didn't kill my feet,
so over all ... pretty good day. But I will say trying
to be both a photographer & a bridesmaid was a
trick.
After the reception I drove down
to Alta High School for the end of the Eclipse
concert to see my friend Kevin. He is in the group
and we try to keep in touch by email, but haven't
had the chance to see each other in person in about
four years. It was nice to be able to catch up with
him.
Saturday night I went to the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert with mom, Betsy,
& Abe. We started out with dinner at the Lion
House (which we had to wait in line quite a while
for) and then went to the show. It was amazing! The
featured performers were Peter Graves & Audra
McDonald.

FOR TIME & ALL ETERNITY
16 December 2004 ...
|
|
I spent the majority of yesterday
attending a sealing for my friend Amber and her new
husband Christopher. What a beautiful day this was
for them! I always love attending sealings and seeing
the happiness that the couple shares as they make
covenants with each other & the Lord and start
their new life together.
One of the things I enjoyed most
yesterday was watching Chris with Amber. Amber and
I have been friends since we were pretty young and
so I have a great love for her. And to see the respect
& love that Chris has for her was extremely special.
I am so glad that she found someone so amazing. I
took a bunch of pics of their day. Go here
to see.

CHRISTMAS DINNER & WAHOO!
14 December 2004 ...
|
|
At Christmas time there is nothing
better than spending time with those you love and
care about. And that is exactly what we did last night.
Every year about a week or so before Christmas the
Cannon kids come over for our annual dinner. Their
mom, Alene was my mom's best friend. Unfortunately
she passed away in 2001, and every year since then
the kids and my mom and I get together for dinner
and a gift exchange. I love this because it is a time
of love and memories. We enjoy a good meal and time
together. It gets more fun every year as new additions
are added. Clark is becoming a little man and loves
animals and anything camoflauge. He was so excited
about the presents that he barely ate anything. Bethany
is our little princess, she loves pink & purple.
And every year we have to get her Candy Canes because
she LOVES them. Elinor is getting to the age where
she is into everything and a little ham on top of
it. She was hilarious. We will have a new one next
year - can't wait!
Here
are some pics and cute videos from the evening.

WILD FRIENDS & 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
13 December 2004 ...
|
|
This weekend was truly one of the
best one's I have had in a long time.
What a fun time we had last night!
You never know what you are going to get when you
put all of our friends together in a room! From trips
to San Francisco, Shots of Smoothie's bum, Stacking
it Up!, Tickle Wars, and much much more! I am so glad
to have the friends I have! For pics go here!
Plus the DJPP pics are here.
Friday night was spent with some
friends watching a movie that I have been wanting
to see for about two years ... Finding Neverland.
I have to say that this was one of the best movies
I have ever seen and is now my favorite movie. The
way the story captured me from beginning to end and
had me feeling emotions in every scene and ended with
tears running down my cheeks. Johnny Depp was marvelous
and so was Kate Winslet. I highly recommend this movie
to all (including the guys). Next the group headed
to McGrath's fish house to enjoy some dessert ...
yummy! How I love chocolate! And if you are ever wondering
the fish on the wall are not real!
Today starts the 12 Days of Christmas.
At the top of the page there is a graphic and on it
there are twelve boxes for each of the 12 Days. Click
on the one with the corresponding day and there will
be something special for Christmas! Enjoy!

THE GIFT OF MUSIC
9 December 2004 ...
|
Music is an amazing gift that has been apart of
my life since I was in seventh grade. At that point
I picked up the flute for the very first time and
started to play (it wasn't all that pretty at that
point). Since then music has always been an important
part of the person that I am. I have played in high
school orchestras & marching bands, received
a scholarship to college and played in choir concerts
and church activities and sacrament meetings. Since
returning from my mission I haven't really played
much and last night I realized just how much I miss
it. Over the past week I have attended two Christmas
concerts and a fireside that dealt with music and
my spirit was touched. I believe that Heavenly Father
has given us this beautiful expression to touch
people's souls and to uplift us. And that is what
happened to me. I hope to be able to start working
on expanding on that talent again.
Another thing I thought I would mention, I am sure
you have noticed that I haven't done much updating
lately, there are multiple reasons for that. I hope
to change that very soon and with that will also
come a new and improved site.

SEXY MEN OF GOD
24 November 2004 ...
|
Last night my friend Katie and I watched the movie
Raising Helen starring Kate Hudson &
John Corbett. If you haven't had a chance to see
this film, I highly recommend it. It is funny and
totally clean. It is about a girl who is a total
city party girl that gives up the life she knows
and loves to raise her deceased sister's three kids.
In the process of all of this she meets Pastor Dan
Parker, a principal at the Lutheran school that
the kids attend. Anyways ... the two kind of you
know - hook up. In the process he makes a comment
about being a sexy man of god. (Go here
to see the scene)
This scene got me to thinking ... okay so my thinking
pattern might be a little random. My friend and
I were talking about the various men that she has
had relationships (romantic & otherwise) with
over the past year or so. Well this of course got
me thinking about mine. I have been pretty dang
lucky in most regards. The men in my life are "Sexy
Men of God." They have strong testimonies about
the gospel, love for their families, and confidence
in who they are. And these men have elightened my
life and helped me to see the Beautiful Daughter
of God that is within me. So to you men that are
in my life ... thank you! Thank you for being "Sexy
Men of God."
I finally got around to getting the pics up from
the retreat last weekend. Unfortunately I don't
have very many due to the fact that I left my memory
card at home on Friday night, but hopefully I will
have more soon thanks to Scott. I will email you
all and let you know! Until then go
and enjoy! (P.S. There is also videos!)

FETISH FEVER
22 November 2004 ...
|
Fetishes... I think we all have them. We all have
things that make us happy and excited. That we love
reading about, learning about, doing, etc... I have
been thinking a lot the past few days about what
mine are. I love music! I love the way music can
make me want to get up and dance (even when I am
driving my car) or help me relax. It can take me
to a time in the past. I have developed a strange
fetish for limes ... I love them! Love them in cherry
limeade, in diet coke, mixed in a Jamba Juice, I
just love limes! Then there are books, escaping
in them. From Harry Potter to The Work and the Glory
to C.S. Lewis to Max Lucado. Then there is Michael
Phelps. I won't say more about that one. ;o)
I think it is so good to have fetishes and I am
grateful for the ones that I have.

EXPECTATIONS
14 November 2004 ...
|
It has been a while since I have really taken the
time to put how I feel and the things that are actually
going on in my life on to this site. I have been
trying to hide everything that I am deep inside.
And the more I store in there the more it is all
starting to bubble up and come closer and closer
to the surface. The truth of the matter is I am
not sure that I can be the person I am anymore.
It doesn't feel like I can be open with people and
let them see who the "real" Allison is.
Because that Allison isn't one that people really
want to know or be friends with. Instead the girl
that everyone sees is a girl who is too passionate
about things and therefore too moody and defensive.
She is a girl who expects too much from people and
is always getting let down and disappointed. In
fact that girl has been told this more than once
recently and always by people that she cares about
a little too much. There - she is someone who cares
too much. Unfortunately that girl is the girl that
I am the majority of the time lately and I am not
sure I know how to be anyone else. And even if I
did, would anyone let this other girl come out and
play.

YES MY BOYFRIEND GOT ARRESTED!
9 November 2004 ...
|
Just so everyone knows - yes I heard that Michael
Phelps got arrested. Yes I am quite upset about
it. I have posted an official statement about my
feelings on
my Michael site. I have received dozens and
dozens of email from friends, various fans to my
Michael address, and had tons of hits on my site.
This is very disappointing, now I just have to move
on.

100 THINGS YOU MAY OR MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ME -
VOLUME THREE
8 November 2004 ...
|
I have been letting my mind wonder a lot this morning
and even last night and yesterday. My mind is wondering
over my life, my insecurities, the things I love,
the people I care for, the things that make me happy,
the things that make me sad. So I decided to do
another
-
My favorite color is orange.
-
One of my role models is the
late Marjorie Pay Hinckley.
-
I enjoy wearing ponchos.
-
Eating or drinking anything
with lime in it makes me relax ...especially
Sonic's cherry limeaids.
-
-
I am not a huge fan of gold
jewelry, but love wearing silver.
-
My favorite ways to eat chocolate
are either on raspberries or cinnamon bears.
- My favorite flowers are white daisies and orange
roses.
-
I still believe in
Santa Clause.
- My favorite book growing up was Charlotte's
Web. I still have my first copy and it is falling
apart.
Added pictures from Heidi's
bridal shower this weekend and new pics of Sammy,
Travis & Shiloh's new baby boy.

LOGIC & LOVE IN HOLLYWOOD
3 November 2004 ...
|
First off, before I get into the things I want
to talk about I have to say that I am so happy that
President Bush has been re-elected! Way to go people!
There is a movie called "Finding Neverland"
that I have been waiting to be released for the
past two years. It is the story about J.M. Barrie,
the author of Peter Pan and how he came to be inspired
to write the story about the boy who never grows
old. J.M. Barrie is played by Johnny Depp and the
mother of the boys in the movie is Kate Winslet
(one of my favorite actresses). The two were interviewed
on Oprah's show yesterday. I think this is one of
the best entertainment interviews I have ever seen.
I have always believed Johnny Depp to be a superb
actor, but didn't know much about him as a person.
He talked about how he is just a normal person with
a weird job. He talked about how strange all the
attention is that he gets. He also said that he
wanted to be a musician, and then friend Nicholas
Cage told him that he thought he would be a great
actor. Johnny needed money to pay the bills and
decided to give it a try. Can you imagine? What
a sad thing it would have been if he had never considered
being an actor and how much talent we would all
be missing.
Anyways my favorite part was where he was asked
about girlfriend, Vanessa Paradis. When asked what
his favorite part about her was, he responded with:
"She's a great mommy. mean, one of the
most beautiful things in the world is to see a mommy
with her kids. There's nothing more beautiful."
I thought that was great. And when asked how fatherhood
has changed him he said, "It gives you
perspective—instant perspective. You know,
suddenly, what the important things are. …
There were a number of years where I was sort of
freaked out about that strange, you know, word,
'celebrity'— just being followed by photographers
and stuff like that. But, once you have kids and
you're sort of rooted in the earth and you understand
what's important, all that stuff around you, the
other things, become just insects." Family
is what is important. It is what makes the world
a beautiful place. To love someone so much that
you want to create life with them and share that
magic with them. The family is our center. Our support
system. The reason we are here.
The other thing was that Kate Winslet talked about
how the press has always had issues with her weight.
I loved this quote, "I'm just going to
hold my head high and I'm just going to be the person
that I am." The last few years I have really
struggled with my weight and how I perceive myself
and what I think others are thinking because I am
not stick thin. Kate mentioned that Leonardo DiCaprio
once told her, "There are so many girls
out there who think that to be successful and to
be beautiful and to be loved and respected it means
you have to be thin." I am glad that there
are people like Kate out there that help to remind
us that beauty is nice but what is important is
who we are, what we fight for, and the fact that
we put the important things first, like our families
and friends.
I am so glad that I was able to watch this interview.
It was really refreshing to see "celebrities"
who have the site of what life is really all about.
I plan to be in the theater on November 12th to
see this wonderful film.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE
2 November 2004 ...
|
Today is election day. The day to make a difference
and let your voice be heard. I went this morning
and voted right as the doors opened at 7:00 a.m.
I love voting because it is one of the greatest
parts about being an American citizen. Helping to
decide who will make the decisions and run our country,
state, county, & city. I hope that all of you
will go out and vote today!

November 2004 ...

Yesterday, it snowed for the first time this year.
I love how it looks when it snows. I love the peacefulness
that the world takes on when it is covered by a
blanket of white.
Here is my new winter layout. Enjoy! And let me
know what you think.
