THE HAND SONG

I know I just posted, but as I sit here listening to this song I am filled with such love. If you haven't heard this song before you really need to. Go here to read the lyrics. I am so grateful to my students for introducing me to this great group.

PEACE BY PEACE

This weekend was Easter and just like most I am more and more grateful for the Atonement in my life. This year it was for the purpose of laying it all at His feet. It has been just over a week since I found out that the job that I love will no longer be mine after June. This was such a blow at a already difficult time. I started to doubt and on Sunday I was reminded of somethings that I needed to hear. Thank you to the person who provided the hands on the blessing that gave me peace of mind and spirit and helped me to see that I don't have to go through this alone. That there is always One there that will be standing beside me.

NOT READY TO MAKE NICE

I learned this past weekend that The Dixie Chicks had released a new single, Not Ready to Make Nice. It is basically their feelings about what happened to them a few years ago when they said some rude comments in a concert in England about our President, George W. Bush. People burned their cds, sent them threatening notes, bashed on them in the press, and more. I am the first to admit that I hated the things that they said. It is one thing to say them to fellow Americans but to bash our leader to another nation is disrespectful. A lot of people don't agree with the war we are fighting or with the way President Bush handles things, but he is our leader and was elected by the people. But then again I think people over reacted. To send them letters threatening their lives and things is also wrong. It is like the saying says, "Two wrongs don't make a right."

I would like to hear your opinions on the situation and on their new song. Do you think this is the best way for them to handle the situation?

THIS ONES FOR THE GIRLS

Becky, Stephanie, Allison, & DarbyThis is for all you girls about thirteen
High school can be so rough, can be so mean
Hold onto, onto your innocence
Stand your ground when everybody's giving in

I get to be in the presence of some of the most amazing teenage girls on a daily basis. Girls who dedicate themselves to everything they are involved in from academics to sports to music to theater and more. Girls who care about others and who conduct themselves with grace and compassion. I learn so much from them as I get to watch them live their lives and interact with each other. It really gets me thinking about the life I've lived.

Junior Miss - Thanks for being you. I am constantly amazed by the way you carry yourself. The way you succeed at everything you try. The way you are close to the spirit.
Bubba - Thanks for the example you set. You are an extremely loyal individual who never gives up.
Dubba - Thanks for making me laugh. You are such a passionate individual, who fights for the things that are important to you.
Lil Sis - Such a great gal! Keep trying new things and finding out the talents that are hidden because you have so much to offer the world.
Perfect Pitch - I am constantly amazed by you, as I know I've told you often. You carry yourself with a quiet dignity. Keep being the person you are.

Emily & AliThis is for all you girls about twenty-five
In little apartments just trying to get by
Living on, on dreams and Spaghetti-Os
Wondering where your life is gonna go

I have amazing friends who are women who are all at different aspects of their lives. Finishing school, finding jobs, dating boys, raising families, and making tons of decisions, as they become amazing women. Women who help me laugh and find the best in life.

Hickenlooper- Thanks for being my best friend. Thanks for knowing me so well and for sending the flowers. You know I love daisies!
Kit Kat- Thanks for the talks and for always communicating the things I need to hear.
BJ- Thanks for being a great supporter. You care so much about each of your friends, never asking for anything in return. Thanks for helping me laugh when I really don't want to and making me listen to things that are hard.

with MomThis is for all you girls about forty-two
Tossing pennies into the fountain of youth
Every laugh, laugh line on your face
Made you who you are today

These women are my heroes. They are the women who's examples are what I try to live my life by. The women I want to be like. Some are the ones who I walk next to and watch the steps they take. Some are women who are now gone, but who's impressions are left on my heart in a way that has helped me be the women that I am today.

Mom - Thank you for all the sacrifices you've made for me over the years. Thank you for never giving up on me.
Sister Walker - How I love and miss you! Such a compassionate individual with one of the largest hearts. Thank you for loving all that come in contact with you and especially your family.
Carolyn - Thanks for always listening. You seem to always say what I need to hear when I need to hear it. Thanks for always helping me see the best in myself when everything else tells me otherwise.

Yeah we're all the same inside
From one to ninety-nine

This week has had a lot of difficult moments. And so many of the women in my life have stepped up and helped out. It is as Marjorie Pay Hinckley once said, "We are all in this together. We need each other. Oh, how we need each other. Those of us who are old need you who are young. And, hopefully, you who are young need some of us who are old. It is a sociological fact that women need women. We need deep and satisfying and loyal friendships with each other. These friendships are a necessary source of sustenance. We need to renew our faith every day. We need to lock arms and help build the kingdom so that it will roll forth and fill the whole earth."

Tis true, we need each other. Thanks to all the women who are there when I need them. Thanks to all the women who have taught me. Thank you for being a part of my life.

LESSONS LEARNED
I am feeling much better than I was a week ago. A few days of perspective, laughing with friends, and some time away has helped me see the silver lining on the horizon. One thing that I have learned through this whole experience is that life is all about our attitudes. Situations are only as bad as we make them, and since I have no control over what has been happening in my life, I have decided to deal with it. I am not saying that I am still not bummed out about missing an opportunity to spend a day at Disneyland, but I am saying that if you can't change it, find something else to do.

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
Friday was an awful day which has led into a depressing weekend. Let's just say that the saying is 3 strikes and you are out ... I am on my sixth strike ... you'd think I would learn by now, but of course not.

READING A GOOD BOOK
I am reading Dan Brown's book, The DaVinci Code. It is a book that has been recommended to me numerous times. I have never really taken the time to read it. But a co-worker lent it to me so that I could read it before the movie comes out next month. I wasn't sure what to expect. I started to read it and found it to be a flowing book. In 24 hours I had read about half of it. The book is one of those books that gets me thinking. I don't necessarily agree with all of the religious principles that are discussed in the book, but it has really had me thinking about what I believe and the way I view different things. I love reading things that get me pondering my life and the world around me. Have you read this book? If so, what do you think?

WEBMASTER WITHDRAWALS
I used to run various celebrity websites, because I found so much joy in doing graphics and coding. I kind of have stopped doing that over the past year or so. One reason being lack of time. And another being lack of interest. But today some of that was rekindled in a small way. I have decided to do one site, and have it be about someone that I have enjoyed for a long time that doesn't really have a fan site. I think I am going to do it on Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson. I am not sure if I am or not. I am going to play with it for the next few days and see if the interest is really there.

THE GIRL WITH THE CAMERA
I am always the girl with the camera. I rarely leave home without it. I can almost always be counted on to be taking pictures at whatever event I am attending. This past weekend my friends went on their annual excursion down to Moab. For the first time in three years I wasn't with them. My friend teased me about how while they were there they were trying to decide who was going to be "Allison". It is nice to know that others find joy in something that brings me such pleasure. Photography has become my passion and one of the great loves of my life. I love looking at the world a little differently behind the shutter of my camera.

ALMOST THE WEEKEND

First off, Happy St. Patrick's Day! I finally found my cd so I could add my editing program back on ... yipee! So now I can try to redo the layout and try to get things up to date again.

Things have been going pretty well lately, been so busy with work. I feel like I don't get to see my friends as much as I normally like to. As I type this update, they are all down in the slightly warmer weather in Moab enjoying their spring break. I am envious, but at least I have tour to California to look forward to.

Well, gotta run. Tonight I am chaperoning the Sadie Hawkin's dance ... should be fun. After working down at the district all week, I kind of miss seeing my kids. Call me odd, but the students are what make the job so amazing.

LIFE AND CODING

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. The cd containing the program I use to do my updating has disappeared and since I have a new laptop, I no longer have the program. So I am doing the coding today manually and we shall see how it works.

Over all lately my life has been one full of various events and full of different people. It has been one filled with pondering and wonder. Trying to figure things out. I think I have made some decisions which has made some parts of my life more clear. While other areas get more and more confusing as each day passes.

I will update more as I see how this works. Wish me luck!
