My first memory of Jake was lending him music for his mission farewell. I didn't know him very well and figured I would probably never see him again after his mission. Luckily for me, I was wrong. While Jake was on his mission I became close with his family and during that time I decided to write him a letter. Who knows what he thought of that. The first time I called over after he returned home, he answered the phone. I introduced myself and he said that he had heard about me. I went over to the house not long later and what a first impression. He was wearing blue pajama bottoms, a faded t-shirt, and a hat and all the while singing French rap music.

Jake is an individual who has an honest heart and is a hard worker. Every once in a while he will surprise you … does any one else remember the Mr. Sexy Legs competition? And he doesn't hate you when you use the embarrassing pictures as blackmail! One of my favorite memories with Jake is sitting is his room with the lights out listening to Counting Crows music. He picked the very best songs and I just sat there listening to the music.

Jake is easy to talk and I enjoy each of our discussions whether they are on the phone or in a car after some time hanging out. Every time I see him he gives me a comforting bear hug (it is fitting that his nickname as a child was Jakey Bear). I always feel safe when I am with him.
